Stable Housing for Families Is Now Part of the Plan
We’re proud to share an important win for families across Ohio.
After months of advocacy, partnership, and pushing together, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency’s 2026 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) now includes a focus on pregnant people and newly parenting families. This means housing resources can be prioritized for families during one of the most critical moments of their lives.
This matters because housing is not separate from health. Nearly half of babies who die in Ohio lived in unstable housing. When families have safe, stable places to live, babies are healthier, parents experience less stress, and families are better able to access prenatal care and ongoing support.
This outcome didn’t happen by accident. Community voices spoke up. Partners wrote letters. Data and lived experience were brought to the table. Together, we made the case that stable housing saves lives and should be part of how we invest public resources.
The QAP decision is a reminder that policy can change when we show up together and insist that families come first. This is one step forward and it’s a meaningful one.
Because every baby deserves a safe place to start life.
